Flutterwave's Send App undergoes a resurgence in the U.S., broadening the scope of remittances to Africa.
In a significant move, African payments technology company Flutterwave has expanded the operation of its Send App in the United States, securing 20 additional Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs) to bring its total to 34 licenses. This expansion allows Flutterwave to operate directly in more US states and territories, enhancing remittance services to Nigeria, Ghana, and Egypt.
The new US states and territories where Flutterwave’s Send App can now operate include Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
The expanded footprint unlocks new remittance corridors, strengthening financial connections between the US and key African markets. The Send App has also undergone improvements to provide a smoother user experience, faster ID verification, and enhanced support for US-issued Visa and Discover cards.
Olugbenga "GB" Agboola, Flutterwave Founder and CEO, commented on the relaunch, stating that the expansion of reach and enhancement of services empowers millions of Africans in the US to maintain financial ties with their home countries. Agboola emphasized that the services aim to support families, contribute to economic development across the continent, and stay true to the core mission of bridging Africa with the global economy.
Earlier this year, Flutterwave integrated Swap into Send App for seamless Foreign Exchange (FX) transactions. The app has also optimized in-app flows for a simpler, more efficient sending experience. In addition, Send App has implemented enhanced security measures to safeguard transactions and maintain compliance with regulations.
With these expansions and improvements, Flutterwave continues to solidify its position as a leading player in the African digital payments landscape, providing essential financial services to individuals and businesses across the continent and beyond.
In the wake of the expansion, Flutterwave's Send App can now leverage advanced technology to enhance security measures and offer improved services to millions of users in the newly accessible US states and territories, marking a significant advancement in finance and lifestyle connectivity between the US and key African markets. Furthermore, the integration of Swap for Foreign Exchange (FX) transactions and enhanced ID verification systems within the Send App reflect Flutterwave's commitment to staying at the forefront of digital finance and technology, continuing to solidify its position as a pivotal player in Africa's digital payments sector.
