France's First Floating Wind Farm, Provence Grand Large, Inaugurated

The 25 MW Provence Grand Large floating wind farm, France's first such project and a global pioneer in project financing, has been officially inaugurated. The farm, which started delivering clean energy to the grid in November 2024, is expected to power around 45,000 homes annually.

The wind farm, fully commissioned in June 2025, features three Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines installed on tensioned line floats. These floats were constructed by Eiffage Métal and assembled in collaboration with Smulders. The project is a significant milestone in France's renewable energy transition.

Financed by Elicio and Baywa r.e., Provence Grand Large is not only the first floating wind project in France but also the first globally to be project-financed. This innovative financing model opens up new possibilities for future offshore wind projects.

The 25 MW Provence Grand Large floating wind farm, with its cutting-edge technology and innovative financing, marks a significant step forward for France's renewable energy sector. It is expected to generate clean electricity for tens of thousands of households each year.
