Free domestic natural gas supply in Almaty city
Gasifying Homes in Almaty: A Helping Hand for the Vulnerable
In Almaty, the city is making significant strides to ensure gas supplies reach residents who need it most, such as those from socially vulnerable groups. This is done through various means, including interest-free loans and even outright, no-cost provision of gas.
So far, we've helped a whopping 28 families escaping the cold without a gas bill. Aiming to expand our reach, we plan to extend the gas supply to another 46 houses in the near future. However, the Nauryzbai district still has a substantial number of approximately 310 remaining homes without gas, the majority being seasonal dachas. These figures were disclosed by Baglan Dandybaev, Deputy Akim of Nauryzbai district, during a recent virtual meeting hosted on the regional communication platform, as per Almaty.tv.
A new program was developed in collaboration with Halyk Bank to offer gasification loans on a preferential basis to city dwellers. This initiative, spearheaded by Bakytzhan Sagintayev, covers residents from different walks of life, whether they belong to the socially vulnerable group or simply wish to warm up their homes.
The program's extensive reach is a response to Kazakhstan's national gasification goals. Although the exact figures for ungasified homes in the Nauryzbai district aren't fully revealed in recent reports, the government has prioritized gasification nationally—aiming to reach 12.8 million people by 2025 with the help of digital tools to optimize safety and efficiency. However, specific district-wise or social group allocation details aren't included in the available reports.
As the government advances infrastructure projects, such as gas processing plants (e.g., Karachaganak) and trunklines, we can imagine that underserved areas like Nauryzbai may benefit indirectly. To get accurate numbers regarding ungasified homes, it’s best to consult the Almaty regional akimat or QazaqGaz directly.
Recent senate discussions in Kazakhstan focused on gasification, but the Nauryzbai district-specific challenges and targeted social support mechanisms weren't explicitly mentioned. The lack of district-specific figures in recent updates suggests potential data gaps or ongoing assessments. Despite the limited information, the focus remains on ensuring those in need are not left out in the cold.
