Freedom Bank Appoints Nohman Ishaq as Senior Vice President and Head of Business Expansion

Freedom Bank of Virginia, a financial institution based in Fairfax, Virginia, has announced the appointment of Nohman Ishaq as its Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development. This strategic move is set to drive growth for the bank through community engagement and consumer banking relationships.

Nohman Ishaq, who most recently served as Vice President of Retail Business Development & Corporate Partnership at Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU), brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is known for his passion for serving business and nonprofit communities and advocating for regional prosperity and access.

In his new position, Ishaq will spearhead the implementation of a workplace banking program called Freedom@Work. This initiative, developed in collaboration with an advisory board of local business leaders, aims to partner the bank with local employers to offer tailored financial products and services directly to their employees. The strategy is designed to capture more consumer deposits and deepen local ties, addressing the challenge of competing with larger banks that have extensive branch networks and marketing budgets.

The Freedom@Work program is a testament to Freedom Bank's commitment to its community. It provides commercial clients' employees with access to exclusive banking perks, personalised service, and expert financial advice. Ishaq's role will involve cultivating these employer partnerships and enhancing consumer banking relationships to foster deposit growth and stable long-term banking customers.

Joe Thomas, President and CEO of Freedom Bank, expressed his excitement about Ishaq joining the leadership team. "Nohman's extensive experience and passion for community development make him an ideal fit for this role," Thomas said. "We are confident that his leadership will help us expand our consumer base and strengthen our market presence."

In addition to his role at Freedom Bank, Ishaq will serve on the Bank's senior leadership team and work with all lines of business to launch a new Bank@Work program. He will also take on a leadership position with the Freedom Bank Foundation.

Before joining Freedom Bank, Ishaq worked at SunTrust (now Truist) Bank, Capital One, and Chevy Chase Bank. He is also the Chairman of the Board for the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and the Dulles Area Transportation Association.

Freedom Bank focuses on businesses, real estate owners, and professionals, offering commercial banking, personal banking, and mortgage banking solutions. With locations in Fairfax, Vienna, Reston, Manassas, and Chantilly, VA, the bank uses banker expertise and innovative technology to build lead relationships with clients.
