Freenet Admits Billing Error: Customers Overcharged for Freenet Funk

Freenet has confirmed a billing error that may have affected all customers using SEPA for their freenet Funk accounts. The issue, which occurred between September 18 and 20, 2025, resulted in customers being overcharged. Freenet Funk is known for its daily cancellation option and daily billing.

The error was first noticed by a reader who spotted an incorrect charge of 1.74 euros instead of the usual 87 cents for their account. Freenet has acknowledged the mistake but stated that there is no information available about the specific customers affected.

Freenet Funk was once a pioneer in offering unlimited mobile data plans at around 30 euros per month. However, the company has since introduced an even more competitive offer, 'Unlimited Mobile'. The launch of this new plan came with favorable basic fees but high connection fees for applicants.

Freenet has not specified the extent of the overcharging or how many customers may have been affected. The company has not yet announced a plan to rectify the issue. Customers with SEPA billing for freenet Funk are advised to check their statements for any discrepancies.
