Global Conference of WTTC Sets Sail for the Eternal City

The world's leading travel and tourism figures are set to gather in Rome, Italy for the highly anticipated 2025 World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit. This pivotal event, scheduled for October 2025, will mark the first time the summit is held in Italy, bringing together nearly 800 delegates from over 50 countries to discuss the key challenges and solutions shaping the future of the global tourism sector.

The summit, which will take place in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Tourism, will be staged against the backdrop of Rome's rich cultural heritage and contemporary tourist offerings. Daniela Santanchè, Minister of Tourism, Italy, announced the hosting of the event, hailing it as a significant return to Europe after six years, following the 2019 summit in Seville, Spain.

Sustainability in tourism, innovation, and economic resilience will be the focal points of the discussions. Given tourism's environmental impact, the need to balance growth with preserving cultural heritage and natural beauty is a major theme. The summit will highlight the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and innovations in sustainable aviation to drive the industry forward.

Post-COVID-19 recovery remains pertinent, with a focus on how tourism can continue to generate jobs and promote economic growth amid ongoing challenges. The summit will also emphasize the need for responsible management of tourism destinations to maintain their attractiveness and viability over time, and the protection of cultural and historical sites that form the backbone of many tourism destinations.

Collaborative leadership will be at the heart of the summit, bringing together world ministers, CEOs, innovators, and city leaders to collaborate on shaping a sustainable and resilient future. The summit will also foster policies supporting sustainable tourism and economic expansion through engagements between governments, tourism boards, and private sectors.

The latest Environmental & Social Research (ESR) data, which showed a significant decrease in Travel & Tourism's climate footprint emissions, was released at the previous summit in Perth, Western Australia. The 2025 WTTC Global Summit in Rome will continue discussions and innovation on the Oceania Travel & Tourism sector.

The summit will serve as a prime opportunity to demonstrate that the tourism sector is growing at a cleaner rate than previously. It will also be a significant platform for dialogue between governments and the private sector, with business leaders and government delegations from around the world expected to attend.

The WTTC Global Summit in Rome will welcome guests and Members of WTTC, and will position itself as a pivotal event aiming to map out a sustainable path forward, leveraging innovation and cooperation to ensure tourism thrives and contributes meaningfully to global economies and cultures in the decade ahead.

Delegates from various businesses and the finance sector will converge at the WTTC Global Summit, as they discuss strategies to promote economic expansion through sustainable tourism practices and investments. The summit will foster policies that align the interests of governments, tourism boards, and private sectors, focusing on collaborative leadership for a sustainable and resilient future.

The summit is expected to underscore the critical role of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and sustainable aviation, in shaping the tourism industry of the future, thereby providing opportunities for innovative business ventures and financial investments.
