In a significant move, global law firm XYZ has announced the promotion of 47 lawyers to partner and director positions, effective January 1, 2021. The promotions span 11 practice groups and represent a diverse range of legal expertise.

London Leads the Way

London, England, is home to a significant number of the promoted lawyers. Sarah Lucey, now in risk advisory/compliance, and Will Alete, who will be working in banking and finance, are among those joining the ranks in the British capital. Zayed Al Jamil, specialising in intellectual property, and Andrew Williams, focusing on banking and finance, are also part of this London-based cohort.

Promotions Across the Globe

The promotions are not limited to London, however. Across the globe, lawyers have been recognised for their exceptional work. In Ottawa, Canada, Heather Cameron has been promoted to employment and labor, while in Sydney, Australia, Alexandra Shields takes on a similar role.

In Vancouver, Canada, Michael Manhas has been promoted to litigation and disputes, and Aaron Stephenson will be handling bankruptcy, financial restructuring & insolvency/litigation and disputes in Calgary, Canada.

International Diversity

The promotions also reflect the firm's global reach, with appointments in cities such as Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Johannesburg, South Africa. Angela Croker has been promoted to banking and finance in Dubai, while Sa'ood Lahri and Bryce Perrett, both promoted to litigation and disputes, will be based in Johannesburg.

Gender Balance in Promotions

Interestingly, 25 female lawyers were promoted globally, representing 53% of the promotions. This includes Reneé Loiselle, promoted to corporate, M&A and securities in Montreal, Canada, and Katie Chung, who will be working in litigation and disputes in Singapore.

Comment from Gerry Pecht

Gerry Pecht, Global Chief Executive of XYZ, commented on the promotions, saying, "We are proud to recognise the exceptional work of these lawyers. Their dedication and expertise have been instrumental in our success, and we are excited to see them take on new challenges in their careers."

The promotions also include appointments in cities such as New York, United States, Paris, France, Amsterdam, Netherlands, San Francisco, United States, and many more. The full list of promotions can be found on the firm's website.

Despite the extensive coverage of the promotions, there are no publicly available details about the additional partners of the Global law firm promoted in South Africa on January 1, 2021.

This news marks an exciting time for XYZ, as it continues to grow and strengthen its global presence. With these new appointments, the firm is well-positioned to meet the legal needs of its clients around the world.
