Ford Vehicles Face yet Another Round of Recalls

It seems Ford drivers are once again being asked to take their cars back to the dealership. This week, in a series of recalls, the Detroit automaker has affected over half a million vehicles, including popular models such as the Explorer and the Mustang Mach-E.

A whopping 304,662 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs built between 2020 and 2025 are part of the largest recall due to a potential fault in the second-row seats' bezel. This issue can cause the seats to 'unlatch, fold, or slide unexpectedly while driving,' posing a significant danger.

The Mustang Mach-E, a foray into the all-electric vehicle market by Ford, is also included in the recalls, with 197,432 units under scrutiny. Investigators have found a problem with the 12V battery, which may cause the vehicle to trap someone inside who can't use the door release handles or even lead to a rollaway risk when the car is parked.

A faulty child safety lock is also the reason for a recall of 27,768 four-door Bronco SUVs, while approximately 2,345 F-Series trucks have been recalled due to a potential brake failure. Furthermore, 2,272 Broncos are being recalled due to a potential problem with airbag deployment.

The Ford Bronco, in particular, is embroiled in two recalls, one for issues with the child safety lock and another for airbag deployment. This string of recalls has catapulted Ford to the highest recall rate among automakers this year, with 78 recalls already issued. The next five most-recalled brands - Chrysler, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors, and Honda - trail behind with only 67 recalls combined.

These recalls cover a wide range of issues, including powertrain fixes, technical reboots, seatbelt realignments, and backup camera adjustments. Although not all recalled vehicles will require new parts, it's important to note that many affected models may contain faulty components, which could pose safety risks. At the time of writing, Ford was yet to respond to DailyMail.com's queries regarding the recall list.

These recalls come as part of a long-standing issue for Ford, which led the industry in recalls in 2022 and 2023 before dropping to third place in 2024. In a 2024 earnings call, Ford CEO Jim Farley revealed that his company spends $4.8 billion annually on recalls. However, Farley believes that implementing new processes in their production line—like holding trucks in parking lots for engineers to assess their quality—has helped minimize these issues.

Reddit users remain skeptical, though. With comments like "FORD - For Owners, Recalls Daily," it seems Ford may need to work harder to regain the trust of its customers.
