Hamburg Port's Green Leap: Hydrogen Refueling Station Coming to CTT in 2023
Hamburg port is set to embrace a greener future with the establishment of a hydrogen refueling station at the Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT). This initiative, led by the Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) in collaboration with Linde Engineering, is part of a broader project aimed at fostering the waterstoff economy in Germany, with support from the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport.
The HHLA, a key player in the development of the Hamburg port infrastructure, has commissioned Linde Engineering to build the refueling station. This move aligns with the port's goal to utilize hydrogen as an emission-free energy carrier. The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport is backing this project as part of the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology.
The HHLA established the Clean Port & Logistics (CPL) innovation cluster for hydrogen testing in May 2022. The cluster aims to test the reliable use of hydrogen to supply port technology and logistics through practical testing of hydrogen-powered equipment. The hydrogen refueling station, expected to be operational in 2023, will be a significant step towards achieving these goals.
The establishment of the hydrogen refueling station at the CTT is a testament to the HHLA's commitment to sustainable practices and the German government's support for the waterstoff economy. This project, set to be operational in 2023, is a significant stride towards a cleaner, greener Hamburg port.
