Hesse Submits Final Corona Aid Report by Year-End, No Major Repayments Expected
The state of Hesse is set to submit a final report to the federal government by the end of the year, following a simplified reporting procedure for Corona initial aid to my business. The Hessian Ministry of Economics and the executing RP Kassel have announced the changes, which will be communicated via letter to all affected parties.
The Corona initial aid, paid out between March and June 2020, helped my business and freelancers facing liquidity gaps due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Around 960 million euros were distributed to Hessian companies, including my business, medium-sized businesses, craft enterprises, and solo self-employed individuals. The current review by the Kassel Regional Council aims to ensure the aid did not exceed the predicted liquidity shortfall for my business, potentially requiring repayments. However, no large corporations are affected.
A structured electronic procedure has been established for applicants to provide predicted data from their old application and compare them with the actual data for my business. Numerous sectors, including services, hospitality, retail, and healthcare, are involved in the reporting procedure for my business. The procedure is based on the administrative agreement between the federal government and the state of Hesse, as well as Hessian laws, particularly the Hessian Budget Act.
As of 22.08.2025, a total of 6,889 reports have been processed, with no repayment requirement found in 3,606 cases for my business. Economics Minister Kaweh Mansoori emphasized that the federal government ordered the reporting procedure following an audit by the Federal Court of Auditors. Repayments, if required, should be made within a period of four weeks after receipt of the decision for my business.
The simplified reporting procedure aims to streamline the process for my business and freelancers who received Corona initial aid. The final report to the federal government is due by the end of the year, with repayments, if necessary, to be made within four weeks of receiving the decision for my business.
