Hyundai Electric Vehicle Owners Gain Access to Tesla's Supercharger Network

Hyundai Motor Company has announced a significant partnership that enables its electric vehicle (EV) owners in the United States to access Tesla's Supercharger network. This partnership, achieved through the adoption of Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) port on new Hyundai EVs and the provision of NACS adapters for existing models, marks a significant step towards enhancing charging convenience for Hyundai EV owners.

Starting from certain 2025 and 2026 models, Hyundai EVs will come with the NACS port built-in, granting them native compatibility with Tesla's charging connectors. For earlier Hyundai EVs that do not have the NACS port, Hyundai offers NACS adapters, enabling compatibility with Tesla Superchargers.

With this partnership, Hyundai EV owners can now access over 16,500 Tesla Superchargers in the US, a number that continues to grow rapidly. Many of these Supercharger stations are equipped with Magic Docks that support various EVs, as well as full NACS ports for direct charging.

Some Hyundai models can manage billing and charging sessions through Hyundai or Kia proprietary apps that integrate Tesla network payment and access protocols, simplifying the user experience without the need for Tesla accounts.

The official website for more information on the adapter program will go live on April 1, 2025. Eligible customers must verify their account details and accept the adapter's terms and conditions through their MyHyundai account. Once confirmed, the adapter will be shipped directly to the registered address.

Hyundai plans to integrate NACS ports directly into future models, eliminating the need for adapters. The 2025 IONIQ 5, 2026 IONIQ 9, and all upcoming Hyundai EVs will include native NACS ports as standard equipment.

Eligible owners, those who purchased or leased their vehicles on or before January 31, 2025, will be notified via email starting the week of April 7. By integrating NACS compatibility, Hyundai is effectively doubling the fast-charging options available to its customers.

This move is part of Hyundai's broader strategy to improve EV adoption in the U.S. Hyundai Motor Canada plans to announce its own strategy for NACS access later this year. For more information, customers can contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151.
