II Summit of Energy Communities to Shape Sector's Future in Toledo
The II Summit of Energy Communities, organized by the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) and the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha, is set to take place on September 24, 2025, at the Congress Palace of Toledo 'El Greco'. This event aims to be the main meeting point for the energy communities sector, consolidating as a key forum for the sector. The summit will address topics such as regulation, governance, and procedures related to energy communities.
Energy Communities, groups of members who join to use renewable resources or engage in energy-related activities, reinvesting benefits locally, will be a key topic at the summit. The role of energy communities in the energy transition, different applicable models, and common points for interest defense will be discussed. This is a significant event for the sector, with the first energy community in a historic center located in Toledo, offering environmental, economic, and social benefits to its members. As of October 2023, there are already 679 Energy Communities in Spain, according to ECODES data.
