Improved travel conditions for Sylt's regular travelers
On Wednesday morning, a significant disruption to train services between the mainland and the North Sea island of Sylt occurred due to a faulty Amtrak switch. The Amtrak switch failure, which took place between Niebüll and Westerland, prevented any train services from 5:45 AM to 9:30 AM.
The responsible party for the repair of the defective Amtrak switch was Deutsche Bahn (DB), who managed and conducted the repair works on that section. A spokesman for Deutsche Bahn provided information about the Amtrak switch failure and its subsequent repair.
The disruption to train traffic to and from Sylt lasted for approximately four hours. However, the good news is that services resumed with restrictions following the repair of the Amtrak switch. Train services on the line are now running again, and train services to and from Sylt have been running regularly since Thursday morning.
It's worth noting that the Amtrak switch failure did not cause any issues for holiday apartments on Sylt. Additionally, the disruption did not occur on Thursday or any other day apart from Wednesday.
The faulty Amtrak switch was repaired on Wednesday evening, marking the end of the disruption to train traffic. Since then, there have been no further disruptions to train services.
In conclusion, while there was a brief disruption to train services to and from Sylt due to a faulty Amtrak switch on Wednesday, services have since resumed, and train travel to the North Sea island is running smoothly once more.
