Inadequate Space for Local Commuting: Council's Statement

In Oberviechtach, a proposal for a roundabout was met with rejection during a public assembly. The decision was due to concerns about increased traffic volume and safety issues. With the required diameter of 45 meters for a roundabout with five road arms, local authorities and residents feared that constructing a roundabout at the proposed location would lead to more congestion rather than alleviating it, and would complicate traffic flow.

In other news, the town hall in Oberviechtach will close at 3 p.m., but the library will remain open. Meanwhile, a reading hour will take place in the city library on December 18, at 3 p.m. The book to be read is "Christmas is at the door" by Monika Feth, and no registration is required for the event.

In Eslarn, there will be an additional performance of the musical "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" presented by the Anton Bruckner Music School on January 5, at 7 p.m. Tickets for the performance can be purchased online at www.anton-bruckner-musikschule-eslarn.de.

The Upper Palatine Forest Association is organizing a Waldweihnacht with Advent singing on December 21, starting at 5:30 p.m. from the Hochhäuser. The event will last approximately 30 minutes and will conclude at the Johannisberg church. Participants in the event include hunting horn players, Schönseer Stubenmusi, singers, Voichtacher Boum, Voichtacher Hirtnboum, Liederkranz, Duo Niederalt/Mathes, and Ernestine Niederalt as the program leader. Food will be provided during the event.

Finally, it's worth noting that according to an expert, there are no bus bays on state roads anymore, except for end stops. Additionally, the rule now is "bus stops traffic" to ensure pedestrian safety when crossing the street using a crossing aid. Mayor Heinz Weigl asked for exact numbers regarding the bus stop Huetgraben, with 60 students distributed over a week and 20 trips per day.

Stay tuned for more updates from Oberviechtach and Eslarn!

Another matter concerns the potential impact of a new financing scheme on the other industry sectors, particularly public-transit transportation, as it could affect the budgets of various municipal services in the region.

The financial department of Eslarn has been investigating the possibility of implementing a new fare system for public-transit transportation, which could improve efficiency and decrease expenses, potentially leading to reduced transport costs for residents.
