Innovation, infrastructure, and sustainability come together in the 2025 PVC Transformation

The joint industry conference, "PVC Transformation: Driving Progress in a Changing World", is set to take place on August 14, 2025, at the NH Johannesburg Hotel in Sandton, South Africa. This significant event, hosted by the Southern African Vinyls Association (SAVA) and the Southern African Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association (SAPPMA), promises to be a platform for innovation, infrastructure development, and sustainability within the PVC and plastics industry[1].

The conference, which is expected to attract over 150 industry leaders, will offer a unique opportunity to explore trends, innovations, and opportunities shaping the future of the industry[2]. The detailed agenda and list of speakers for this specific conference have not been publicly disclosed, but it is known that the speakers will cover a diverse range of topics, including imports and exports, sustainability and recycling, new product developments, and market trends.

Keynote speaker Dr Mark Everard will deliver presentations on "Seeking Societal Symbiosis for the Sustainable Use of Materials" and "Additive Sustainability Footprint: A roadmap for the PVC industry". The SAPPMA parallel session will feature presentations on all aspects of plastic pipes by industry experts such as Jacques van Eck (SAPPMA), Mike Schutte (Rho-Tech), Renier Snyman (Sun Ace SA), Kirtida Bhana (Plastics SA), Mike Smart (Genesis Consulting), and Justin Marsberg (CEISLAB)[2].

Various industry experts will also deliver local presentations at the PVC parallel session, including Jerrie Vermeulen (Sasol), Theunis Pos (About Air Pollution), Tertius Ness (South Ocean Electric Wire), and others[2].

The conference provides an exciting platform for networking with industry leaders and peers. Early registration is encouraged to secure a spot at the event, as space is limited. Tickets for the conference are available at www.savinyls.co.za/events for SAVA & SAPPMA members at R2,500 + VAT and for non-members at R3,500 + VAT.
