International finance firm Reed Smith appoints Haitong International's director as a new partner in debt finance division, Hong Kong office.
Reed Smith Bolsters Debt Finance Capabilities with Evelyn Wang's Arrival
Reed Smith has strengthened its debt finance capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region with the appointment of Evelyn Wang as a partner in its Hong Kong office.
Wang, who brings a wealth of experience in cross-border debt finance, will advise private equity sponsors, enterprises, and institutions on debt finance matters. Her expertise spans across Greater China and Southeast Asia, and she has a proven track record of working on both the borrower and lender sides of transactions.
Wang's technical acumen is evident in her experience with complex debt finance matters such as leveraged and acquisition financing, margin financing, fund financing, dividend recapitalisation, and hybrid debt/equity investments.
Before joining Reed Smith, Wang was a director in the Loan Capital Markets team at Haitong International Securities Group, a major Chinese financial institution. Prior to that, she trained at Simmons & Simmons and worked at Kirkland & Ellis.
Wang's academic background includes a Bachelor of Laws with honors and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Praj Samant, Reed Smith's Asia-Pacific managing partner, has stated that Wang is a highly regarded lawyer. Johnny Lim, Asia co-chair of Reed Smith's global corporate group, is thrilled to have Wang on board.
The arrival of Wang will greatly benefit Reed Smith's clients, as the firm can now offer a broader range of services. This comes at a time when Reed Smith has been expanding its Hong Kong office, with Regina Lui joining from A&O Shearman in May, and Arthur Tso moving from DLA Piper in December 2024.
However, the departure of Michael Sinn and Patrick Wong from Reed Smith's Hong Kong office this year has also been noted. Nevertheless, the addition of Evelyn Wang to the team is expected to offset this loss and enhance the firm's corporate finance capabilities in the region.
