Introduced Newly: White Parcel Delivery Machines - Now at Your Disposal

"Packstations" Yellow Devices Fading in Popularity, DHL Introduces New Competition:

Parcel delivery in many places has started to see a shift, with the once prevalent yellow "Packstations" becoming less common. These devices, numbering around 15,000, have greatly simplified parcel handling for DHL. Now, DHL is preparing to launch a new rival system featuring white parcel lockers. Recipients will find these new devices incredibly beneficial compared to the existing system.

The future of German parcel delivery will also include these white machines as alternatives for picking up and sending parcels. These devices are managed by DHL's subsidiary, which ensures provider-neutrality, allowing packages from various parcel companies to be contained within them.

At the moment, five "DeinFach" machines have been installed in Cologne, Bonn, and Berlin, with a goal of installing at least 1,000 by year's end. Competitor UPS will initially join this network, with other service providers potentially following suit. For instance, DPD has announced its intention to participate in this system.

DHL CEO Nikola Hagleitner stated at a recent presentation that this expansion will result in consumers having to travel shorter distances to collect their parcels. The machines are user-friendly and accessible 24/7, providing a significant advantage for customers.

No Additional App Required

The market for yellow "Packstations" is currently dominated by this segment. The more than 15,000 machines are exclusively supplied by DHL. There's also Myflexbox, which already provides a provider where consumers can collect packages from GLS, UPS, FedEx, and DPD. Myflexbox has 472 locations in Germany, which will increase to at least 1,000 by the end of the year and at least 5,000 by 2030.

Most parcel machines are available 24/7, making it hassle-free for consumers to pick up and drop off parcels. Unique to "DeinFach" users, they do not require an additional app or customer account, as stated by the company. The system operates through the structures of parcel service providers, with the pale parcel machines situated at easily accessible, central locations.

Such machines prove beneficial for parcel services as well. They save time and improve CO2 balance by allowing delivery companies to deliver numerous parcels to a single machine rather than having to visit each front door.

In response to changing parcel delivery trends, Germany will soon see an increase in the number of white parcel lockers, provided by DHL's subsidiary. These devices, initially introduced in Cologne, Bonn, and Berlin, are expected to reach at least 1,000 locations by the end of the year.

With the introduction of these white machines, DPD, along with other potential service providers, will join UPS in providing parcel services that do not require an additional app or customer account for "DeinFach" users.
