Joint Raid in Rheda-Wiedenbrück Finds Gastronomic Horrors
Authorities in Rheda-Wiedenbrück conducted a joint action last Friday, uncovering a range of violations in local gastronomic businesses and kiosks. The operation involved multiple agencies, including the Main Customs Office Bielefeld, police, and food safety officials.
The inspection revealed several concerning issues. In one Asian eatery, food was prepared in unhygienic conditions using a bathtub, and staff were untrained. Another restaurant was found with mouse droppings on the buffet area, indicating a rodent infestation.
Multiple fast-food outlets were in violation of social security and alien law regulations. Shockingly, several restaurants had converted staff washrooms into sleeping areas, lacking proper escape routes and fire extinguishers. Authorities have vowed to continue these joint control actions to address such violations and crimes.
Ralf Wagenfeld, spokesperson for the Hauptzollamt Bielefeld, confirmed that while compliance with identification document obligations has improved since April, serious issues persist. Future joint control actions are planned to ensure the safety and well-being of both customers and employees in Rheda-Wiedenbrück's gastronomic establishments.
