Kazakhstan's President Tokayev Secures Deal for 200 Locomotives from CRRC
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with CRRC's Chairman Sun Yongcai, leading to a significant deal. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) will acquire 100 mainline and 100 shunting locomotives from CRRC, marking a new stage in their partnership.
CRRC, a global leader exporting to over 100 countries, will supply the locomotives to KTZ. President Tokayev praised the long-standing partnership and emphasized the importance of moving forward with localization of production and creation of service centers in Kazakhstan.
Following Tokayev's visit to China in October 2023, cooperation with CRRC has reached new heights. KTZ plans to further boost its fleet with an additional 270 hybrid shunting locomotives in the near future. This move aims to develop domestic machine-building, create new jobs, and ensure timely maintenance of railway infrastructure. CRRC, producing over 2,000 locomotives annually, is well-positioned to meet this demand.
An agreement has been reached to supply 100 mainline and 100 shunting locomotives to KTZ. President Tokayev expressed confidence in the successful implementation of these supplies, marking a significant step in Kazakhstan's railway news and cooperation with CRRC.
