Klingel's line "Miamoda" is now on the market
In a significant move for the plus-size fashion industry, the Popken Fashion Group has announced the acquisition of the Miamoda brand from the insolvency assets of Klingel. The sale, which is set to take effect on January 1, 2024, follows the successful purchase of the HAPPYsize brand by the Popken Fashion Group from Klingel's insolvency assets in October.
The Miamoda brand, known for its offerings in plus-size women's clothing, will join the Popken Fashion Group's existing portfolio of four brands: Ulla Popken, Laurasøn, Studio Untold, and JP1880. The Popken Fashion Group sells these collections through online shops and its own stores in over 30 countries.
The bodies of the self-administration, including the creditors' committee appointed by the Regional Court of Karlsruhe, have unanimously approved the sale. Marcus Katholing, the current Klingel manager and insolvency expert for the insolvency administrator Pluta, stated that the discussions with the Popken Fashion Group about Miamoda were very positive.
Under Miamoda, Klingel marketed plus-size fashion as "fashion for large sizes." The sale includes the customer addresses and inventory of the Miamoda brand, ensuring a smooth transition for existing customers.
The K-Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG, the parent company of the KLiNGEL group, has been in insolvency proceedings under self-administration since May 2023. The sale of the Miamoda brand is not the first acquisition by the Popken Fashion Group from Klingel's insolvency assets.
Based on general knowledge, the Popken Fashion Group is a German company focusing on plus-size fashion for women and men, offering a broad range of apparel designed to cater specifically to this market segment. The company is headquartered in Rastede, Lower Saxony.
