In the dynamic world of legal practice, lateral movements of partners between firms can signal significant shifts and strategic decisions. One such development that has caught the attention of industry observers is the recent joining of Gauhar Mirza, a former partner at L&L Partners, at Saraf and Partners.

Gauhar Mirza, an accomplished professional with a focus on arbitration, litigation, and technology sectors, has strengthened Saraf and Partners' dispute resolution capabilities. This move follows a formal split between Saraf and Partners and L&L Partners, which took place in July 2022.

Mohit Saraf, the former equity partner at L&L Partners who now leads Saraf and Partners, has also made another strategic hire. Mohit Bakshi, a seasoned legal professional with expertise in civil and corporate commercial litigation, white-collar crimes, and more than a decade of experience at J Sagar Associates, has joined L&L Partners as a partner.

The departure of Manmeet Singh from L&L Partners to Saraf and Partners is another notable change. With over 17 years of experience, Manmeet Singh brings a wealth of knowledge in the energy and infrastructure sectors, having worked with financial institutions, private equity investors, and Indian conglomerates. At Saraf and Partners, Manmeet Singh is a part of the management committee.

These moves have contributed to Saraf and Partners' impressive growth since its establishment in 2022. The firm has expanded from 21 lawyers to over 200 lawyers, including 34 partners as of mid-2025. Apart from Gauhar Mirza, Saraf and Partners recently appointed Alok Shankar as a partner specializing in projects, regulatory, and litigation based in the Delhi office.

The Mumbai office of Saraf and Partners has also seen growth, recently moving to a larger space in Lower Parel to accommodate the expanding team. The firm's offices are now located in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

In contrast, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys (LKS), a different firm, has recently promoted multiple internal associates to partners, but this does not relate to Saraf and Partners or L&L Partners lateral movements.

As the legal landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these strategic moves impact both Saraf and Partners and L&L Partners in the coming months.

Gauhar Mirza's joining Saraf and Partners, a move following a formal split between the two firms, signifies a significant development in finance and business careers, as he brings expertise in arbitration, litigation, and technology sectors to strengthen the firm's dispute resolution capabilities. Meanwhile, Mohit Bakshi's strategic hire at L&L Partners, with his experience in civil and corporate commercial litigation and white-collar crimes, could influence the firm's legal practices and financial growth potentially.
