In a significant move, Vietnam has been formally announced as the tenth partner country of the BRICS group at the 2025 expanded BRICS Summit, taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This historic decision, made by Brazil, the pro tempore BRICS Chair, on June 13, 2025, marks Vietnam's first participation in a BRICS Summit.
