Macron Faces Resignation Calls as Euro Slumps on French Crisis
President Emmanuel Macron faces renewed calls to resign amidst a political crisis in France. The euro has weakened, dropping 0.20% to 1.1686 USD against the US dollar on Tuesday morning, due to the turmoil.
The crisis in France intensified with the resignation of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on Monday. He continues to serve in his role and is engaged in talks until Wednesday evening to resolve the situation. The political uncertainty has negatively impacted the euro, which remained above its previous low despite the fall.
Adding to the euro's woes, German industrial orders declined by 0.8% in August compared to July, according to the Statistisches Bundesamt. This dip in German industry orders further pressured the euro.
The political crisis in France and the decline in German industrial orders have contributed to the euro's fall. Despite the drop, the euro remains above its previous low. The situation in France is ongoing, with Lecornu holding talks to resolve the crisis.
