Manufacturing facility of Nextpharma in Berlin-Reinickendorf hit again by protest action - Media welcomes attendees
Berlin Stands Up for Fair Wages: Workers at NextPharma Strike Again
In the heart of Berlin, it's a fight for fair wages and working conditions. NextPharma, the antibiotics manufacturer situated at Berlin-Reinickendorf, is once again in the spotlight as its employees take a stand against inadequate salaries and workplace conditions.
Let's Rally! Warning Strike on June 19!Join us Thursday, June 19, from 6 AM to 2 PM as we gather outside NextPharma's Berlin-Reinickendorf site, Breitenbachstraße 13.
Why Strike Again? For the second time in two weeks, employees have chosen to lay down their tools. The management's indifferent response to their demands for fair wage hikes, better working conditions, and a sustainable future has fueled this action. Despite a previous tariff action and a first warning strike, the employer remains unresponsive.
Lead Negotiator Annika M. Helle of the IGBCE Speaks Up:"NextPharma may be a hub for crucial antibiotics, but it surely isn't a beacon for fair wages," Helle asserts. "Our colleagues are light-years apart from the industry-standard wage and wage development in the pharmaceutical sector across various aspects – from wages to working hours, holiday pay, and annual performance."
A Snub from the ManagementThe shockwaves felt throughout the workforce and at the IGBCE were considerable when NextPharma failed to show up for the second round of wage negotiations – a disappointing blow for dedicated employees.
What Do They Want? The IGBCE wage commission has put forward a series of demands:- A minimum gross wage of €16 per hour for entry-level employees, ensuring a wage level that surpasses the statutory minimum wage.- The implementation of time-based development stages.- The addition of missing task areas, such as commercial activities, into the wage catalog.- A contract duration of 12 months.
Management's Counter OfferIn stark contrast, the employer has offered a pitiful 3% wage hike – utterly insufficient for the current wage level at NextPharma Berlin-Reinickendorf.
Helle's Cry to the Employer:"NextPharma employees in Berlin deserve appreciation, higher pay, and clear prospects. Although we are frustrated by the persistent silence from the management, we are always open for further discussions. We urge the company to rejoin us at the negotiation table!"
The Heart of the Pharmaceutical WorkforceWith over 130 employees working tirelessly to produce essential antibiotics like AmoxiClav, employees showcase unwavering flexibility and performance readiness. Now, they are demanding not just a wage increase but fair wage development.
Media InvitationWe warmly invite all media representatives to cover this significant story. We're more than happy to arrange interviews with wage commission members to gain further insights into the standoff.
