Matt Bangser Takes Up Position as Senior Director at Art Intelligence Global
Art Industry Veteran Matt Bangser Joins Art Intelligence Global
Matt Bangser, an experienced art broker and dealer, has joined Art Intelligence Global (AIG) as Senior Director, effective September 8, 2025.
Bangser brings a wealth of experience to AIG, having spent the past 16 years at BLUM gallery, where he oversaw global sales and secured estates of notable artists such as Robert Colescott. During his tenure at BLUM, he worked closely with prominent artists like Mark Grotjahn and Henry Taylor. Before BLUM, Bangser held senior roles at Van de Weghe gallery and positions at Phillips and Christie’s auction houses. He was also a board member of the Art Dealers Association of America from 2017 to 2020.
At AIG, Bangser's extensive experience across galleries, auction houses, and direct artist collaboration is expected to provide valuable art advisory services. Amy Cappellazzo, co-founder of AIG, praised Bangser's wide-ranging market expertise as especially valuable in the current art market environment.
Cappellazzo made a call to Bangser following the shutdown of BLUM's galleries last month. She stated that adding Bangser to AIG's senior ranks was a rare opportunity that should not be passed up, citing his understanding of the entire art ecosystem, from artist studios to secondary-market trading floors.
Joining AIG is described by Bangser as a "natural evolution" of his career in the art world. He will be leaving BLUM, where founder Tim Blum recently announced his departure from the traditional gallery model.
Adam Chinn, one of AIG's founding partners, is no longer with the firm and now heads International Art Finance, a boutique art-lending company.
Bangser's mix of gallery savvy, auction-house discipline, and a rolodex built over two decades in the trade is likely to prove invaluable in his new role at AIG. He sees the current market lull as a moment to advance rather than retreat.
