Mechanical Workshop of Martin John feted for excelling in environmental conservation and climate preservation

In a move towards a greener future, the Martin John Mechanical Workshop in Fürth, Bavaria, has once again qualified for the Bavarian Environmental Pact. District Administrator Bernd Obst presented the award at the Zirndorf district office.

The Martin John Mechanical Workshop, founded in 1970 and currently managed by Martin John, specializes in machining for the production of CNC milling and turning parts. The company's commitment to environmental and climate protection has been evident in its daily operations, as it strives to make its production as climate-neutral as possible.

The Bavarian Environmental Pact, a cooperation between the Bavarian state government and the economy for the preservation of natural living conditions, is based on voluntariness, self-responsibility, and cooperative interaction between the state and the economy at all levels. Companies that participate in the pact commit to going beyond legal requirements for environmental and climate protection.

The Martin John Mechanical Workshop meets the criteria list of the Bavarian Chamber of Crafts (50-point program) and has been participating in the Bavarian Environmental Pact since 2021. The company's environmental and climate pact achievements include the use of washable reusable cleaning cloths, reusable transport packaging, LED lighting, company bicycles, and 100% biomass for heating purposes. A wood chip heating system supplies the workshop with heat, and a significant portion of its energy is generated from a photovoltaic system.

Bernd Obst, the district administrator, emphasized that energy efficiency, energy saving, and the use of renewable energies are important goals for the district, as stated in the sustainability strategy. He stated that the Rossatal company and all participating companies in the district demonstrate that environmental and climate protection in businesses is possible and necessary for achieving global warming goals.

Over 1,600 companies in Bavaria, including 20 in the district of Fürth, are members of the Bavarian Environmental Pact. The goal of the pact is economically compatible and socially balanced environmental and climate protection that promotes innovations and can serve as a model for others. Participation in the Bavarian Environmental Pact is free of charge and possible at any time.
