Meeting preparations unfold in Kisumu for the luxury residence summit
The 4th Kenya Affordable Housing Conference (KAHC 2025) is set to take place in Kisumu on 7-8 August, with a focus on fostering practical solutions to Kenya’s housing deficit. Hosted by the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC), the conference will be held at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel and will serve as Kenya's premier platform for public-private dialogue.
The theme of this year's conference is "Revolutionising Housing: Innovation Meets Sustainability", and the event aims to shape Kenya’s housing agenda with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation. Johnstone Oltetia, CEO of KMRC, stated that the conference is a place where theory meets practice, and it aims to highlight innovative and sustainable practices across the housing value chain.
The conference will gather more than 250 local and international delegates, including senior government officials, financial institutions, developers, researchers, and development partners. Key speakers at the event include top government officials such as Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o (also chair of the Council of Governors Housing Committee), National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, Lands and Housing Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, and Principal Secretary for Housing Charles Hinga.
Delegates from India, Malaysia, Tanzania, and Pakistan are expected to attend the conference, and international delegates from TMRC, PMRC, and Cagamas will share best practices from global institutions. The programme of the conference includes discussions on green affordable housing, risk-sharing facilities, product innovations for housing finance, and the role of counties in co-financing infrastructure.
The KAHC conference will also feature high-level plenaries, with Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o leading the opening plenary. National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi will also participate in the opening plenary. The forum will highlight innovative and sustainable practices across the housing value chain, as stated by Johnstone Oltetia, CEO of KMRC.
The conference is expected to be a significant event in the housing sector, with a focus on addressing the housing deficit in Kenya through green construction, emerging technologies, inclusive housing finance, and regulatory reforms targeting low- and middle-income earners, especially those in the informal sector.
