Military organizations KCCI and KUSAF to initiate job platform aimed at former USFK personnel
The Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Korea-US Alliance Foundation have joined forces to create an online job platform, scheduled to officially launch in October. The signing ceremony took place in Seoul, attended by KCCI Executive Vice Chair Park Il-jun, KUSAF Chair Leem Ho-young, and Robert Abrams, a former commander of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command.
The online platform will link Korean companies operating in the United States with US veterans who have completed or are nearing the end of their service in Korea. The primary goal of this initiative is to provide US veterans with access to quality civilian employment, offering Korean firms disciplined and culturally adaptable talent.
Leem Ho-young, Chair of KUSAF, stated that the agreement represents "meaningful recognition" for the 28,500 US troops currently stationed in Korea, boosting morale and making service in Korea more attractive. Park described the program as a "genuine win-win", as it benefits both veterans and Korean companies.
KUSAF will guide veterans and encourage their participation in the online job platform, while KCCI will manage and promote the platform to companies. The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) will manage the online platform connecting South Korean companies operating in the United States with US veterans of the US-Korea military forces.
Companies that employ US veterans can access financial incentives such as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which provides up to $9,600 per hire. The online job platform will provide US veterans with access to Korean companies operating in the United States.
The initiative will be introduced at the Alliance Veterans Conference. With its launch, the online job platform is set to offer a valuable resource for US veterans seeking employment opportunities and for Korean companies seeking skilled and dedicated workers.
