Thai Energy Company Donates Millions to Support Injured Soldiers and Families

In a significant show of support, Gulf Development Plc, a leading Thai energy company and telecom operator, has donated 100 million baht to the Royal Thai Army. The funds are specifically intended to assist soldiers injured or the families of those killed in the Thai-Cambodia border conflict, particularly in the province of Ubon Ratchathani.

The donation was officially handed over to senior army officials, including the Commander-in-Chief and Commander of the Second Army Region, at Army Headquarters. Speaking at the event, Gulf Development's CEO, Sarath Ratanavadi, emphasized the company's duty as a Thai business to stand with national defenders. His personal connection to the military, as his father served in the armed forces, played a significant role in the decision.

CEO Sarath stated that the donation aims to improve the quality of life and morale of frontline troops and their families. The funds will be used transparently through a dedicated committee to help these individuals recover and rebuild their lives with dignity.

Beyond the monetary donation, Gulf Development continues community outreach via its GULF Care programme. The company is delivering over 2,000 relief kits to soldiers and civilians affected by border tensions in Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani. Additionally, Gulf Development has provided 1.2 million baht in direct support for soldiers injured by landmines during patrols in Ubon Ratchathani.

The Second Army Region commander expressed gratitude to Gulf Development for their continued support. The growing severity of the conflict prompted Gulf Development and Mr. Sarath's family to offer broader support, moving beyond their previous provision of satellite communication services for military operations.

Mr. Sarath encouraged Thais to contribute however they can to the welfare of frontline defenders. He believes that such acts of kindness can boost the morale of those affected by the border conflict and encourage public solidarity with those protecting Thai sovereignty.

The impact of this donation on morale is substantial, as stated in official statements. The company’s integrated support approach—both financial and humanitarian—reinforces troop welfare and community resilience in conflict zones. A committee will be formed to ensure the donated funds are used transparently and effectively in line with Gulf Development's intentions.
