Mini-Jobbers Get Fair Vacation Calculation with New Center Tool
Mini-jobbers, working variable hours, now have a clear vacation calculation method. The Mini-Job Center has introduced a calculator to determine their entitlement, ensuring fairness and adherence to the Federal Vacation Act.
Mini-jobbers' vacation days are calculated based on their average weekly workdays. For those working fewer than six days a week, the formula is 'average workdays per week times 24, then divided by 6'. For example, a mini-jobber working two days a week is entitled to eight days of paid vacation per year.
The calculation ensures mini-jobbers receive a proportionate amount of leave, with a legal minimum of 4 weeks (24 days for 6-day weeks). Remaining fractions of a day are rounded up, and can be balanced out in hours or settled after termination. If the calculated vacation days result in an odd number, it is rounded up from half a day. Contractually agreed entitlements or collective agreements can exceed the minimum regulation.
The Mini-Job Center's vacation calculator simplifies the process for mini-jobbers and employers. It ensures fair calculation of vacation days based on actual work patterns, with a legal minimum of 4 weeks paid leave, and the possibility of contractual increases.
