Mitsubishi Motors Sees Sharp August Production, Sales Drop
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has announced a significant drop in global vehicle production and sales for August 2025. The company produced 11% fewer vehicles than the same month last year, with a total of 59,372 units. This decline follows a steady decrease in production and sales throughout the year.
In the first eight months of 2025, Mitsubishi's global production stood at 576,359 vehicles, marking a 7% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. The decline was driven by both domestic and overseas production. Domestic output in Japan fell by 3% to 305,834 units, while overseas production dropped by 12% to 270,525 units.
August saw a further decline in production, with Japanese output down by 15% to 25,628 units and overseas output decreasing by 8% to 33,744 units. Sales in Japan also experienced a sharp drop, with an 11% decrease to 8,096 units, largely due to a significant reduction in minicar sales. Meanwhile, exports fell by 6.5% to 142,300 units, with shipments to North America down slightly to 9,063 units.
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's August 2025 figures reflect a challenging period for the company, with significant declines in production and sales both domestically and internationally. The company will need to address these issues to improve its performance in the coming months.
