Money allocated for the Regensburg theatre amounts to 19,500 euros
Theater Regensburg Announces New Family Opera for the 2026/27 Season
Theater Regensburg, a popular cultural hub in the Bavarian city, has announced plans for a new family opera in the upcoming 2026/27 season. This exciting development follows the success of previous family productions, such as "The Return of Peter Pan" and "Pinocchio's Adventures," which attracted nearly 12,000 visitors across 31 performances.
Each year, Theater Regensburg includes a family opera or musical in its repertoire, and this year is no exception. British composer John Dove has been commissioned to write a new work, which will be premiered at Theater am Bismarckplatz in the winter of 2026.
The new family opera has received generous support from several sponsors. Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Regenburg-Schwandorf eG and the Citizens' Foundation of Volksbank Regensburg have each contributed 7,500 Euros and 7,000 Euros respectively. Additionally, the Raiffeisen/Schulze-Delitzsch Foundation of Bavarian Cooperatives has pledged 5,000 Euros towards the production.
Theater Regensburg's management has expressed their gratitude and pleasure at the generous support for the new family opera. They have prioritised "Theater for Families" since Sebastian Ritschel's tenure as artistic director, and this commitment is evident in the high-quality productions they continue to deliver.
In total, 19,500 Euros will be used to fund the new family opera. Previous family operas, such as "The Little Prince," have also been well-received by audiences, indicating that this new production is sure to be a hit.
As the winter 2026 season approaches, we look forward to learning more about the specific sponsors for this production. In the past, sponsorship information for new operas at Theater Regensburg has been announced closer to the premiere date and published on official Theater Regensburg channels or local cultural funding bodies in Bavaria. For precise and updated information, we recommend checking the official Theater Regensburg website or contacting their press office directly.
This new family opera promises to be an exciting addition to Theater Regensburg's repertoire, and we can't wait to see it come to life on stage.
In the upcoming 2026/27 season, Theater Regensburg is planning to introduce a new family opera, funded by various organizations within the other industries, such as finance (Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Regenburg-Schwandorf eG, Citizens' Foundation of Volksbank Regensburg, Raiffeisen/Schulze-Delitzsch Foundation of Bavarian Cooperatives) and banking-and-insurance (Volksbank). Theater Regensburg has been active in prioritizing "Theater for Families" and keeps delivering high-quality productions under the artistic direction of Sebastian Ritschel.
