New garbage collection facility being built in Ergoldsbach

The Landshut district has announced plans to build a new waste collection facility to serve the communities of Ergoldsbach and Neufahrn. The facility, scheduled to open at the end of November or early December this year, will be the first of its kind in the region.

The new facility will cover an area of 2,400 m² and will be located along the St 2615, near the roundabout in Ergoldsbach. A spacious access road from the St 2615/B15 will be constructed to ensure easy accessibility.

The construction costs for the new facility are approximately one million euros. During the construction phase, the St 2615 will be used as a two-lane road while observing construction traffic. The construction of the left-turn lane from Neufahrn and the access road will require a half-lane closure with traffic light control, and the road will be resurfaced with a new layer, which will likely require a full closure of about a week.

The architecture firm Schamp & Schmalöer Architekten has been commissioned to design the new waste disposal centres in Ergoldsbach and Neufahrn. The facilities will feature ample space and secure connections to and within the waste collection facility.

The waste collection facilities in both municipalities are currently struggling to meet increased demands. Upon operation, the opening hours of the new facility will be extended to optimize the use of existing staff.

In addition, a left-turn lane from Neufahrn will also be created to improve traffic flow in the area. The glass containers in both municipalities will remain at their current locations.

The new waste collection facility is expected to significantly improve waste management in the region, providing a much-needed solution to the current challenges faced by the communities of Ergoldsbach and Neufahrn. The groundbreaking for the new facility is set for mid-July.
