New Leadership at Sonos: Tom Conrad Appointed As CEO

In a significant move for the audio technology industry, Sonos has appointed Tom Conrad as its permanent CEO, effective immediately. Conrad, who has over three decades of experience in consumer technology, brings a wealth of knowledge and a compelling vision for Sonos' future.

Conrad's career in technology spans across various prominent companies. He served as the CTO and EVP of Product at Pandora, where he played a key role in developing the personalized music experience that revolutionized the streaming industry. He also held the position of Vice President of Product at Snap Inc., contributing to the development of innovative features for the popular social media platform.

Before joining Sonos as interim CEO, Conrad served as the Chief Product Officer at Quibi, a short-lived streaming service. Prior to that, he was the CEO of Zero Longevity Science, where he drove growth for its digital health platform. Early in his career, Conrad worked as a user interface designer for Apple, contributing to the development of the Macintosh.

Since taking over as interim CEO, Conrad has focused on rebuilding trust and improving product experiences at Sonos. The company, which faced backlash over its app overhaul, has made notable progress under his leadership. Sonos has dramatically improved its software products, establishing higher standards for software and product quality, laying the groundwork for a robust new product pipeline, and introducing innovative software features for flagship products such as Sonos Ace and Arc Ultra.

Julius Genachowski, Chair of the Board, is confident that Conrad is the best person to lead Sonos into its next chapter. "Tom's deep commitment to delivering ever-improving experiences, combined with his understanding of the audio technology landscape, make him the ideal candidate to guide Sonos into its next phase," Genachowski said.

Conrad, who has been a member of the Sonos Board since 2017, is excited to move from rebuilding to imagining the next generation of experiences for Sonos. He plans to leverage AI and other advances to redefine the audio landscape, with a focus on providing a premium experience to Sonos' customers.

Sonos has reestablished clarity, focus, and momentum this year. The opportunity in front of Sonos is enormous, according to Conrad, and he is eager to seize it. With his extensive experience and compelling vision, Conrad is poised to lead Sonos into a new era of innovation and improvement.
