New regulations have been approved and will be implemented.
The Hamburg Verkehrsverbund (HVV) has announced that the expansion of the "hvv hop" service area to the west side of the Harburg district has been delayed due to coordination needs in the formal approval process.
The "hvv hop" service, which requires all HVV tickets plus a surcharge of two euros per person and trip, operates as public transportation but without a fixed schedule or route. Passengers can book trips in Harburg via the "hvv hop" app. Currently, the service area includes the districts of Neuland, Wilstorf, Rönneburg, Harburg, Langenbek, Sinstorf, Gut Moor, as well as Marmstorf, Eißendorf, and Heimfeld.
The expansion, known as the "Harburg West" project, was intended to improve transportation for residents in the districts of Altenwerder, Cranz, Francop, Hausbruch, Moorburg, Neuenfelde, and Neugraben-Fischbek. The service, which uses shared taxis, has been a popular and convenient transportation option for residents in districts that are not well connected by public transportation since its launch in January 2023, with almost half a million trips booked since then.
Andreas Bahr, operations manager for "hvv hop" in Harburg, stated that all parties involved are working with high priority to bring the approval process to a swift conclusion. Unfortunately, no new start date for the "Harburg West" project has been announced yet.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we recommend checking the official HVV website or local Hamburg transport authority announcements. If you need help finding these official updates, feel free to ask.
In the meantime, the "hvv hop" service in Harburg East continues to operate as usual. Passengers can take advantage of the service's carpooling feature, which automatically bundles passengers with similar routes into carpools, to save both time and money.
The expansion of the "hvv hop" service, originally planned for the districts of Altenwerder, Cranz, Francop, Hausbruch, Moorburg, Neuenfelde, and Neugraben-Fishbek, is a deliberate effort to enhance transportation in the finance industry by improving public-transit options. Unfortunately, due to delays in the formal approval process, the much-anticipated "Harburg West" project's start date remains undetermined, hindering the development of transportation infrastructure in these districts, particularly in the realm of transportation services like shared taxis.
