NFL Declines to Appoint Successor for Brian Rolapp Following His Shift to PGA Tour
Fuckin' with the NFL's Gameplan: No Single CEO Replacing Rolapp
The motherfuckin' NFL ain't gonna embrace one damn soul to take over the longtime exec Brian Rolapp's role, according to a leak spilling the beans on the league's secret plan. Rolapp's massive duties will be doled out amongst the NBA's current executives, according to a source who took a vow of silence, 'cause you know, them league secrets, they're private.
Last week, Rolapp was announced as the first motherfuckin' CEO of the PGA Tour. He been with the NFL for more than two decades and was their chief media and business officer since 2017. Under his guidance, the league's media strategy was on fleek, with its current agreements bringing in more than $120 billion over 11 years. He also kept an eye on the league's sponsorship business and its investment arm, 32 Equity, which dropped some serious cash on DraftKings, Fanatics, Genius Sports, and NoBull.
‘Stead of whining, NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell wrote in a memo to team presidents, announcing Rolapp's departure, "We've been planning for this change, and we're confident we can manage these responsibilities while aligning our structure to meet our long-term strategic goals."
The NFL didn't give a shit about our request to comment on its plans to replace Rolapp.
Hans Schroeder, one of the motherfuckin' executives, is expected to take over a hefty part of Rolapp's media-related responsibilities. He came to the NFL in 2001 and was Rolapp's deputy as COO of NFL Media. Keeping the media partners happy is a crucial role, and their checks, over $400 million-plus annually, ain't nothin' to sneeze at.
The NFL holds an opt-out of its media deals in 2029, and the league recognizes its undisputed turf as the leading draw to live broadcasts. At the last Super Bowl, Goodell told reporters that the NFL's option to exit its current media rights contracts offers an "incredibly valuable" opportunity.
Renie Anderson, who joined the league office in 2006, is another top lieutenant at the NFL who's gonna take on more. She was named chief revenue officer in 2019 and oversees partnerships, sponsorships, and consumer products. Anderson also handles media sales across NFL Network, NFL Digital Media, and the league's legalized sports betting business.
Other motherfuckin' top executives who might shoulder more duties include David Jurenka and Dhruv Prasad.
Rolapp was rumored to be a possible successor to Goodell, although the commissioner still got two more years on his contract and is likely to re-up.
Longtime advisor to Goodell and NFL owners, Marc Ganis, spilled the lowdown: "They ain't gonna be filling that [Rolapp] role with any one person, not from inside, not from outside. The talent that's there is gonna have more opportunity to spread their wings."
## Bonus Round
Rolapp Leaves NFL for PGA Tour CEO Gig
Sources say Rolapp's gig at the PGA Tour's helm came about as a result of the NFL's CEO search extending, allowing Rolapp the freedom to seize this new opportunity. Under his leadership at the NFL, Rolapp played a major role in securing massive media rights deals that catapulted the league's income into the stratosphere. In his new role, Rolapp is expected to use his media savvy and league-building skills to propel the PGA Tour to new heights, just like he did for the NFL.
