Novak Djokovic, aged 37, believes he has the capacity to continue playing at a high level for an extended period.
Eager fans should anticipate seeing Novak Djokovic in action more frequently in 2025 and beyond.
The 37-year-old, 24-time Grand Slam champion, stated his intention to participate in "more tournaments" than he did in 2024. He believes he has the capability to maintain his high-level performance for "several years."
"I'm aiming for a solid beginning to the season, I'm striving for better consistency across all tournaments," Djokovic, ranked No. 7 globally, expressed in Brisbane, Australia.
"I'm planning to participate in more tournaments this year than I did the previous season, so hopefully, my performance level will also improve," furthered Djokovic, who turns 38 in May. "I hope to claim a few more tournament victories, which will boost my ranking back to its rightful position."
Djokovic bagged his first Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games in 2024, but missed the chance to set a new record by not clinching his 25th major title after winning three Slams in 2023.
He will aim to break Margaret Court's record with a 25th Slam as the Australian Open commences on January 12. His longtime rival and friend, Andy Murray, will guide him through the fortnight.
Djokovic has triumphed in 10 of his 24 majors in Melbourne. He is already highly regarded as the G.O.A.T. of men’s tennis.
"Given how I feel today, I still believe I can push forward for several more years," he asserted. "However, how long I'll keep this drive going is uncertain. I still love this sport and I still enjoy competing."
In August, he expressed his desire to persist until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
"I wish to compete in Los Angeles, I enjoy playing for my country in the Olympic Games, the Davis Cup."
Djokovic, the top seed in Brisbane, will go head-to-head with Australian wildcard Rinky Hijikata in the first round. This will mark his first official tournament since his loss to world No. 1 Jannik Sinner at the Shanghai Masters final in October. He will also team up with Nick Kyrgios, who is making a comeback after injuries, for the doubles event.
"Djokovic's aim for better consistency in tournaments could potentially lead to more business opportunities in the sports industry."
"With his focus on participating in more tournaments and aiming for tournament victories, Novak Djokovic could earn significant sportsmoney in the upcoming season."
