Nuremberg-Zirndorf Cycle Route Gains New Section by December 2025
Nuremberg and Zirndorf are set to see improvements in their cycling infrastructure with the construction of a new cycle path section. This 250-meter, four-meter-wide path will fill a significant gap in the cycle network, connecting the Bibertal to the state road St 2245. The project, scheduled for completion by December 2025, is part of the St 2245 town bypass in Zirndorf and is planned to be part of the fast cycle route from Nuremberg to Zirndorf.
The city of Nuremberg is actively pushing ahead with its plans for a fast cycle route on its territory. Preliminary planning has been approved along Rothenburger Street, with initial measures already implemented on Gostenhofer main street, Bauerngasse, and parts of Rothenburger Street and Felsen Street. Meanwhile, the Free State of Bavaria is taking the lead on the section between Nuremberg and Zirndorf. They have offered to cover all costs for the section from Albrecht-Dürer Street to the Rednitz valley in exchange for cycle path management by the city of Oberasbach.
The Building Authority Nuremberg is overseeing the construction of this new section of the Bibertal cycle path in Zirndorf. Once completed, it will benefit the Jordan Street industrial area, the poultry breeding association, and local residents by providing a direct connection to the state road St 2245. Plans for the further course of the cycle path towards Leichendorf are already advanced and approved by the Bavarian State Ministry.
The new cycle path section, set to be completed by December 2025, will significantly improve cycling connectivity between Nuremberg and Zirndorf. This project, part of the St 2245 town bypass in Zirndorf, is planned to meet the standards for fast cycle routes and will benefit both local residents and businesses.
