Ocean Hyway Consortium Expands with H2Carrier Membership
In a significant move towards the development of hydrogen-based solutions in the maritime sector, Norwegian-based company H2Carrier has joined the Ocean Hyway Cluster (OHC). The OHC, launched in 2019, is a Norwegian national network aimed at leading the charge in this field.
H2Carrier, the designer of the innovative floating hydrogen and ammonia production vessel, P2XFloater, is set to contribute significantly to the OHC's mission. The P2XFloater, a new member of the OHC, utilizes proven technologies from offshore oil and gas production, specifically FPSOs (floating production, storage, and offloading).
The P2XFloater is designed to produce green hydrogen and ammonia, making it a crucial addition to the OHC's portfolio. In January 2023, H2Carrier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian multinational Larsen & Tourbo, intending for the Indian company to fabricate the topside operations of the P2XFloater vessels.
In addition to the OHC, H2Carrier has also signed MoUs with Wison New Energies and Siemens Energy. The collaboration with Wison New Energies focuses on reducing green ammonia production costs via a 500MW Green Ammonia FPSO project in northern Norway. The MoU with Siemens Energy was signed at Gastech 2025 in Milan.
H2Carrier has also signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Anori to develop 1.5GW of renewable energy in Greenland, further cementing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The Ocean Hyway Cluster made the announcement of H2Carrier's membership in a recent release, welcoming the company as a valuable addition to their network. With H2Carrier on board, the OHC is one step closer to its goal of revolutionizing the maritime industry with hydrogen-based solutions.
