Omsk region's involvement discussed by Vitaly Hocenko at St. Petersburg Economic Forum
Chillin' With the Big Guns at SPIEF 2024
Governor Vitaly Khotchenko of the Omsk region is still basking in the afterglow of their unforgettable stint at last year's St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). This shindig proved to be a goldmine, serving as an excellent platform for networking and sealing investment deals. The crème de la crème of federal authorities and business bigwigs joined forces, resulting in a whopping 18 agreements totalling an eye-popping 480 billion rubles.
Fast forward to 2024, the Omsk region stood their ground, engaging in a jaw-dropping 30 meetings during SPIEF. These fruitful negotiations sparked the birth of some game-changing projects. The Omsk-Fedorovka Airport concession deal, a collaboration with the "Titan" group for a chem production facility, and the establishment of Ozon's logistics center at "Solar" logistics park (with a successful first phase already under its belt) are just a few examples of the power move the Omsk region executed.
Vitaly Khotchenko didn't skimp on explaining the other notable agreements. Take, for instance, the construction of the "Rusklymat" ventilation systems factory in the "Avangard" special economic zone, the partnership with "Stroytrast" company for a metal construction plant and bitumen terminal, the "Rost" group's greenhouse complex, and the "1C Technologies Center" at OmGTU, set to graduate 300 experts in the 2025/2026 academic year. Oh, and let's not forget about the high-tech prosthetics center, currently in active construction and expected to complete construction this year.
According to our man Vitaly, a staggering 32 investment projects with a combined value of over 700 billion rubles were on the table last year, with the majority of investments flowing into industry and logistics (226 billion rubles invested in fixed capital). Already spinning their wheels for SPIEF-2025 from June 18 to 21, the Omsk region has lined up meetings with federal agencies and influential businesses, setting their sights on inking new agreements that will propel industry, expedite import substitution, and amplify technological sovereignty.
Now comes the sizzling weather update: Omsk is bracing for a heatwave with rain this week! Totes unrelated, but we thought you might wanna know. Stay cool, y'all!
