Our Company Wins 170M Peso EPM Contract for Ituango Hydroelectric Power Plant

Our company has secured a significant contract worth around 170 million Colombian Pesos from Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) to supply equipment for the upcoming Ituango hydrojug power plant in Colombia. Set to be the largest in the country, this plant will generate 2,400 MW of power.

The Ituango hydro power plant, to be installed on the river Cauca in the Antioquia department, 170 km from Medellín, will feature eight 300 MW Francis turbines and eight generators, along with their respective excitation systems and bus bars. Our company will be the sole supplier for these critical components, with the first four generating units scheduled for completion by 2018 and the remaining four by 2021.

This project marks our company's second success in a row in Colombia, following the earlier supply of equipment for the El Quimbo hydro plant. It also consolidates our company's leadership in Latin America and worldwide for large hydropower plants, with a 30% share in the region's hydro power generation infrastructure over the past 50 years. All equipment for the Ituango project will be produced at our company's Taubaté unit in São Paulo, Brazil.

EPM, the leading power generation utility in Colombia with over 3,200 MW of installed capacity, has entrusted our company with this significant project. Upon completion, the Ituango hydro power plant will be a testament to our company's expertise and commitment to sustainable power generation in Colombia and beyond.
