In a bid to maintain high standards and ensure compliance with the law, the city-resort of Sochi in Russia is implementing a self-assessment process for all hotels, sanatoriums, resorts, and campgrounds. This move is in line with the new federal legislation that requires these types of accommodations to undergo self-assessment.

As of the current date, approximately 300 out of 725 facilities in Sochi have already undergone the inspection process. From September 1, another 1,500 guesthouses in the city-resort will begin the self-assessment process. It's important to note that violations of this process will result in fines.

Meanwhile, in the Kuban region, 4,700 guesthouses will be equated to "zero-star" hotels and are required to complete the self-assessment process by January 1, 2026. This information was provided by the press service of the Sochi administration.

It's worth mentioning that unregistered hotels that had a classification as of January 1, 2025, will not be able to provide their services from September 1. However, specific details regarding the self-assessment requirements for these accommodations under the new federal legislation in Sochi, or the number of guesthouses that have completed self-assessment by that date, could not be verified from the provided documents or search results.

In 17 regions of Russia and the federal territory of "Sirius," guesthouses will be experimentally legalized, but details about this experiment in Sochi are not currently available. As always, it's advisable to stay informed about local laws and regulations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay.

  1. To adhere to the new regulations, guesthouses within the retail and hospitality industry in Sochi might need to complete the self-assessment process, given the city's focus on compliance and the ongoing self-assessment for hotels, sanatoriums, resorts, and campgrounds.
  2. The new federal legislation could potentially extend to the finance sector, as violations of the self-assessment process in Sochi may lead to fines for the respective accommodations, which could impact their financial standing.
