Pirna Bypass Bridge Grows by 120 Meters, Nears Completion in 2026

The bridge over the Gottleuba valley has grown by another 120 meters, bringing the city of Pirna's southern bypass closer to completion. The construction, which began in 2017, is expected to be finished in 2026 and will help alleviate traffic, noise, and pollutant emissions in the city.

The latest progress involves pushing a new bridge section towards Kohlberg over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday. This follows the installation of the first 92-meter section on pillars one and two in June 2022. The B172 had to be temporarily closed for 24 hours to facilitate this recent construction work. Once completed, the 916-meter-long bridge, overseen by a specialized engineering or construction firm, will be a significant part of the Pirna B172 bypass. This bypass also includes the Kohlberg tunnel and bridges over the Seidewitz and S173.

With the recent addition of 120 meters, the bridge over the Gottleuba valley now stands at 212 meters in total length. The project remains on track to be completed in 2026, promising much-needed relief to the city of Pirna.
