A Spectacularly Rare Blue Diamond Goes for Almost 20 Million Euros

A Rare, Valuable Blue Diamond Changes Ownership for Approximately 20 Million Euros - prestigious auction concludes with extraordinary sale of exceptionally valuable, ultra-rare blue diamond worth close to 20 million euros
The fortunate purchaser is an anonymous collector from the good ol' USA, according to the auction house - no names dropped. The "Mediterranean Blue" is a fabulously elusive blue diamond, a real treasure trove. It was recently excavated from the legendary Cullinan mines in South Africa.
While Sotheby's labeled it the "stone of the season," Tobias Kormind of Europe's largest online jewelry dealership, 77 Diamonds, hinted at a less than scintillating auction. "The Mediterranean Blue" managed to rake in a bit more than predicted, he said. However, the overall jitters in the economy and trade spats between the US and China may have unsettled bidders and brought down its brightness a tad.

I'm not sure about the exact implications for the finance and business industry due to the ongoing trade spats between the US and China, but the uncertain economic environment may have contributed to the slightly lower bids for the Mediterranean Blue diamond. Despite the stone being labeled as the "stone of the season" by Sotheby's, I'm also not sure if we can expect a surge in the diamond industry auctions in the near future.
