The elderly woman was ultimately forced to engage the services of the consumer advice center, as the provider was unresponsive to her attempts at resolution. As a result, the woman suffered significant stress and declined to file a criminal complaint due to fear of the salesperson in the mobile phone store.
"Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case," remarks Sebastian Dreyer, expressing concern about the plight of elderly consumers. He counsels consumers to be cautious when renewing telephone contracts in-store, recommending they inquire about the 'contract summary' in advance, bring a witness, and avoid entering into agreements they do not fully understand. He added that not all stores should be considered unscrupulous, but consumers must remain vigilant.
