Puerto Vallarta Launches Modern Electric Bus Network
Puerto Rico is transforming its public transport system with a modern, electric bus network. The 'Francisco Medina Ascencio Electric Public Transport System' will serve around 20,000 passengers daily, reducing pollution and enhancing mobility.
The project, part of a broader campaign to improve transportation, includes 38 electric buses - 18 articulated buses 18 meters long with room for 120 passengers, and 20 smaller ones. A key route will run along Francisco Medina Ascensio Avenue, connecting the city center with Ixtapa. The new system is expected to cost $897 million pesos (US$43.39 million).
The Las Juntas Interchange, recently opened after seven months of construction, has already eased congestion in one of Puerto Vallarta's busiest areas. The first phase of this interchange was completed as part of the ongoing infrastructure and modernization efforts, with total investments from state, federal, and municipal governments reaching over 2.2 billion pesos ($119.7 million).
The new electric mobility project in Puerto Vallarta is set to modernize transportation and reduce pollution. With the Las Juntas Interchange operational and the electric bus system underway, the city is poised to offer cleaner, more efficient public transport to its residents and visitors.
