Train-Truck Collision Leaves Multiple Injured in Lower Bavaria

Pocking, Germany - A collision between a regional train and a semi-truck carrying drinks has left at least ten people injured, with three sustaining serious injuries. The incident occurred at an unguarded railway crossing near Kühnham, close to Pocking in Lower Bavaria.

Deutsche Bahn, the train operator, expressed sympathy for the injured parties, wishing them a speedy recovery. The precise cause of the accident is yet to be established. Initial investigations suggest that the truck was on the railway crossing when the train struck it. This unprotected crossing, uncharacteristic for the area, may have played a significant role in the accident.

Seven other passengers on the regional train suffered minor injuries. The train derailed due to the impact, and the truck ended up across the tracks. Only the truck driver was present in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene.

In response, Deutsche Bahn dispatched members of its emergency management team to assist in rescue efforts and care for the passengers. A replacement bus service was also established. Authorities are yet to determine when the Bavarian rail route will reopen, with trains from Passau terminating in Pocking and those from Mühldorf terminating in Pfarrkirchen during the closure. An expert will investigate the cause of the accident, while the estimated material damage is approximately two million euros.

Both the railway track and the local road were closed following the incident. Recovery efforts to remove the truck from the tracks are expected to continue into the night. Authorities have not yet released further detailed official investigation results or specific causes beyond the unguarded crossing factor.
