Railway track renewal project underway in Nunkirchen, with measurements B268, L148, and L152
The Merzig-Wadern district is gearing up for a significant road repair project that is set to transform the local infrastructure. The project, spanning over seven phases, is expected to be completed by September 20, 2025.
The project will commence on June 20, 2025, with the first phase focusing on the roundabout at B 268 / L 148 / L 152. This phase is anticipated to last from June 20, 2025 (5:00 AM) to approximately June 23, 2025 (5:00 AM).
During this phase, motorists can expect traffic disruptions as the Local Transport Authority (LfS) advises drivers to consider potential delays in their route planning and allocate sufficient time for detours. Detours for L 152 will run in both directions via Thailen (L 152 / L 151), Wadern, and Noswendel (L 148).
Several large detour options will be available during Phase 1, including via L 157, L 369, and L 333. The work on L 152 towards Thailen (Weiskircher Straße) will be approximately 800 meters long.
The project will also affect the street Im Flürchen (L 148) towards Wadern, and the Weiskircher Straße (L 152) towards Thailen. Affected residents will be notified separately via flyers, and changes in bus schedules and relocated stops will be announced by the respective operators.
Phase 2, approximately 250 meters long, is expected to take about three weeks. Phases 3 and 4 will follow, with each phase involving full closure on L 152. The planned start of Phase 5 is early September 2025.
Phases 2-4 will focus on L 148 towards Wadern (Im Flürchen) and will be done in three phases with full closure. Detours will run in both directions via Limbach (L 333 / L 145) and Michelbach (B 268).
The completion of work on L 148 is planned for late August 2025. The project includes the renovation of the roundabout, renewal of the asphalt surface on L 148 and L 152, replacement of drainage channels and road outlets, and renovation of three bus bays along L 148 in asphalt form.
Some work will be done during the summer holidays to minimise disruption to school bus services. Each phase of the work on L 152 will be announced separately before it begins.
The LfS encourages motorists to stay informed and plan their routes accordingly to ensure a smooth journey during the project duration. More details about the schedule for Phase 2 of the repairs on road L 148 towards Wadern, as well as when announcements for individual Phases 3 and 4 will be made, are yet to be announced.
