Super E10 and Diesel prices have hit near record lows this year. Since January, both fuels have dropped significantly, with the latest report by the ADAC stating that E10 fell by 1.5 cents on average and diesel by 1.6 cents across the country.

As of yesterday, E10 was priced at approximately 1.672 euros per liter, while diesel was sold at 1.556 euros. The diesel price is the lowest since December 13, 2024, marking a 9-month low for the fuel type.

While the ADAC attributes the drop in prices to a decrease in oil prices, they believe consumers could potentially benefit from even lower prices as refineries and distributors have yet to fully pass those savings onto them.

The enrichment data provides a more detailed picture of local trends in Germany:

  • Super E10: Currently, the nationwide average price is approximately 1.68 euros per liter. In the past few weeks, prices have decreased by 2.2 cents compared to the previous period. The lowest prices are found in city states (Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg), while Bavaria and Saxony are the most expensive regions (over 8 cents difference).
  • Diesel: The recent monthly average ranges from 1.66 to 1.685 euros per liter. The lowest prices are found in city states (Bremen, followed by Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), whereas Bavaria and Saxony are the most expensive regions.

Factors Contributing to the Decrease

The ADAC analysis cited in the coverage indicates that the recent decrease in fuel prices has been influenced by two main factors:

  • Fall in the Price of Oil: A decline in global crude oil prices has led to lower costs for refining and distributing fuel.
  • Strong US Dollar: Since oil is traded internationally in US dollars, a stronger dollar can offset some of the local price drops in euros. However, in this case, the overall effect has been a downward trend due to the fall in oil prices.
