Red Fox Development Proposes Alexandria's Tallest Building: 365-Foot Residential & Retail Tower
Red Fox Development is set to present a proposal to Alexandria's Planning Commission on Nov. 6. The proposal, if approved, would be the city's tallest at-grade building, standing at 365 feet. It would include up to 775 residential units and 40,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. The property is owned by the Hoffman family and located in Block 3 of a coordinated development district.
The proposal is designed by Cooper Carry and is represented by attorneys Ken Wire and Megan Rappolt. It is situated on a vacant three-acre lot across the street from Wegmans at 150 Stovall Street, less than a mile from the Eisenhower Ave-Metro station. Red Fox aims to secure city approval by the end of 2026, break ground in 2027, and open the development in 2030. The Carlyle District, where the proposal is located, is an urban development area with a mix of office buildings, hotels, residential units, and retail spaces. While there have been plans for large residential projects in the area, none have been publicly linked to the specific details of this proposal.
The Planning Commission will review the proposal on Nov. 6. If approved, the proposal would significantly contribute to the city's residential and retail offerings, with a focus on high-density development. The timeline for the proposal, if approved, is set for completion in 2030.
